Mick Hucknall rejected chance to star on The X Factor and The Voice

Mick Hucknall has "politely declined" the chance to be a judge on ‘The X Factor’ and ‘The Voice’.
The 59-year-old singer was offered the opportunity to star on the hit TV shows, but Mick rejected the chance because he doesn’t feel he’s suited to the role.
He explained: "I have been asked to be on those shows but I politely declined. They’re perfectly fine but they’re not my thing.
"I’m still creating music. I’m still writing. So I focus on that. Anything else that gets in the way of that would just be a distraction.
"It’s not that I’m lazy but I try to do as little as possible. I love my home life. I’m very happy when I’m with my family.
"So I just do what I need to do and then I go home. I don’t want more work on my plate."
Mick doesn’t watch either show and has, in fact, called on TV executives to instead commission a song-writing talent contest.
Speaking to Daily Star Sunday newspaper, Mick explained: "A lot of the time these things are nothing to do with the creative process.
"I always thought the idea of having somebody on who created their own music, who wrote their own songs, would be an interesting thing rather than just focusing on somebody’s singing abilities.
"I think there are a lot of good singers out there. It’s much rarer to find somebody who is a good writer and a good singer. That is where the real treasure is."
