Michelle Collins joins My Dad’s Gap Year

Michelle Collins has joined the cast of theatre production ‘My Dad’s Gap Year’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star will tread the boards in the play, which is directed by Rikki Beadle-Blair, from January 30, 2019 until February 23, 2019, at London’s Park Theatre.
She wrote on Twitter: "Soo excited to return to @ParkTheatre again and to do this fab new play directed by @RikkiBB . (sic)"
The play will tell the story of mid-life crisis dad Dave – played by Adam Lannon – who embarks on a gap year to Thailand with his gay, teenage son William (Alex Britt).
Dave ends up falling for Thai waitress Mae (Victoria Gigante), who dreams of owning her own bar, and the father and son duo go on a journey of self-discovery.
Michelle will play William’s mum Cath, who is learning to embrace her new single lifestyle.
The 57-year-old star is well known for portraying Cindy Beale in ‘EastEnders’ from 1988 to 1998, and she also starred in ‘Coronation Street’ from 2011 to 2014.
And the star recently admitted when she first started out on the cobbles, playing Stella Price, she felt "embarrassed" to tell ‘Corrie’ bosses she was going through the menopause.
She said: "When I first started on ‘Coronation Street’, I would like to have said I’m going through the menopause and I’m feeling a bit anxious, so bear with me, but I felt embarrassed.
"It was a taboo subject."
Since quitting Weatherfield, Michelle has starred in ‘Casualty’, Death in Paradise’, ‘Midsomer Murders’, and earlier this year she took on the role of Fiona Johnson ‘The Dumping Ground’.
