Michaela Strachan wouldn’t mind Springwatch pay gap

Michaela Strachan "wouldn’t be upset" if Chris Packham earned more than she does.
The ‘Springwatch’ host has insisted she is "absolutely not interested" in her co-star’s salary, and added that they both have "different strengths" on the BBC show.
Explaining her stance to the Mirror, she said: "If Chris was paid more, and I don’t know if he is, I wouldn’t be upset because you cannot pay for his knowledge, it’s an extraordinary knowledge.
"If I’m honest, what Chris brings to ‘Springwatch’ in terms of knowledge is way more than what I can bring."
Michaela, 52, has worked with her 57-year-old fellow presenter on a number of projects – including the likes of ‘Countryfile’ – and while she is "happy" with her own salary, she is certain Chris will have earned every penny of his.
She added: "Chris is extraordinary and the campaigning that he does is extraordinary… so I’m not interested in what he earns from it – it’s none of my business."
It was a different story for ‘The One Show’ duo Matt Baker and Alex Jones, with the latter "shocked" to find out she was paid £50,000 less than her co-star.
She said at the time: "Matt and I have never discussed wages, but I assumed we got paid the same. I was quite shocked. I guess everybody else was."
Earlier this month, the issue was raised again on air, and Matt explained while he gets more due to doing "three jobs", they are paid the same for their work on ‘The One Show’.
