Michaela Strachan had both her breasts removed after being diagnosed with cancer.
The ‘Springwatch’ presenter has revealed the upsetting news after being told the news following a routine mammogram earlier this year, and it changed how she looked at her body.
She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper’s You magazine: "The tears started to roll as my doctor tried to tell me what would happen next but I only took in every fifth word or so.
"The only work that registered was cancer … My breasts have never been a big part of my personality – they have always been rather average 34Bs.
"I didn’t think I’d feel too emotional about losing them. But knowing that I would in the next few days I found myself wearing tight tops and celebrating them."
Michaela, 48, has encouraged other women to go for regular mammograms, insisting her story could have been "very different" if she hadn’t.
She added: "If I’d put mine off, my story would have been a very different one.
"As it is I’ve had a tough year and an emotional journey but I’m not fighting for my life."
