Meryl Streep named Britain’s favourite actress of the past 20 years

Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford have topped the list of the nation’s favourite stars.
The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ star triumphed in Sky Cinema’s vote of the best female actress of the past 20 years as selected by the British public whilst Daniel was named the biggest actor of the past year.
Tom Hiddleston also found himself at the top of the most on trend movie star list.
Ian Lewis, Group Director at Sky Cinema, said: "Meryl Streep has entertained us for decades and being crowned the biggest actress of the past 20 years is well deserved.
"We’re delighted to honour her movies on Sky Cinema as well as offering film fans a new premiere each day."
The 67-year-old actress saw off the competition with a huge lead, securing over half of the votes, whilst the closest runner up was Judi Dench with 40%. Julia Roberts placed third with 34% whilst Sandra Bullock followed shortly behind with 32%.
Despite recently being named the highest paid actress, Scarlett Johansson only managed 13%.
For the men, just one per cent separated Tom Cruise (36%), Harrison Ford (35%) and Tom Hanks (35%).
Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt followed closely behind with 33%, 31% and 30% respectively.
Sky Cinema, formerly known as Sky Movies, treats viewers to a new premiere each day, in addition to more than 1,000 movies on demand. This summer sees Spectre, Star Wars, Suffragette and Crimson Peak released on the service.
