Melody Thornton can handle Jason Gardiner on Dancing On Ice

Melody Thornton insists she will be able to cope with acid tongued ‘Dancing On Ice’ judge Jason Gardiner when she skates for the first time this Sunday (13.01.19).
The 34-year-old pop star – who was a member of the Pussycat Dolls from 2003 to 2010 – is unafraid of facing the notoriously harsh 47-year-old judge and insists she will take his hits as long as there is something in his summary that can help her improve her skating.
Melody exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "You have to respect that these people are on the panel for a reason, so whatever it is that he has to say as long as there’s something constructive in there that I can learn from then I’ll do my best to focus on that.
"Hopefully whatever it is that he has to say isn’t too insulting. He can take about performance, that’s what he’s there for."
Although she has years of experience of stage performance from her time in the Pussycat Dolls, Melody had never skated before agreeing to take part in the programme because she grew up in the desert in Phoenix, Arizona.
But she has learnt a lot from her professional partner Alexander Demetriou and feels ready to make her debut in front of the live studio audience and the viewing public at home.
The ‘Don’t Cha’ said: "I grew up in the desert in the States, not too many people skated where I lived. Everyone in Arizona is like, ‘Let’s go tan, let’s go swimming.’
"I’m trying not to think too much about the actual moment, I’ve done all of the work leading up to it, I’ve done three months of training. Am I confident in my skills? I know I did as much as I could do, and I’ve done my best so far and I will continue to try my best, more than my best I cannot do.
"Alexander has been so great, he’s new to the show too so we’re going through the same experience at the same time together."
‘Dancing On Ice’ airs on Sundays on ITV at 6pm.
