Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins to host new BBC show

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have secured a new presenting job with the BBC.
The pair – known as Mel and Sue – previously hosted the popular baking competition ‘The Great British Bake Off’, before they quit the show out of loyalty to the BBC after they lost the rights to rival broadcaster Channel 4.
Now, the duo have landed a new gig on a Saturday night prime time slot, as they prepare to host ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’.
The show sees celebrity contestants – who are yet to be announced – taking on a range of singing and dancing challenges in order to impress a panel of guest judges. The four-episode series will feature three live heats before a live final.
In a statement released by Sue, 47, she said: "I’m thrilled to be co-presenting ‘Lets Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’, not least because it will finally show the world why I was voted West Penwith’s Krumping Champion (over 40s category)."
Mel, 48, released her own statement saying: "Since leaving the Royal Ballet twelve years ago, Mel is really looking forward to getting back on her points and showing the brave Comic Relief celebrity dancers how to split leap and ball change.
"She’s delighted to be taking time out from her busy schedule at the Royal Opera House (she was recently called ‘a complete and utter Tosca’ in the starring role of the eponymous opera) to take part in co-hosting duties for ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’."
Meanwhile, Kate Phillips, controller of BBC entertainment commissioning, said of the pair: "Their warmth, wit, charm and chemistry married with their genuine love of entertainment are all a perfect fit for ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’."
‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’ will air on BBC One next year, ahead of charity fundraiser Red Nose Day 2017.
