Mel B’s tell-all book will chart her journey through her allegedly abusive relationship with Stephen Belafonte.
The 42-year-old singer divorced Stephen – with whom she has six-year-old daughter Madison – in 2017, and Mel has teased her new book, revealing it’ll lift the lid on her turbulent romance with the film producer.
Mel – who starred in the Spice Girls alongside Geri Horner, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham – shared: "I just signed my publishing deal yesterday (07.05.18). It was quite an organic journey.
"It’s a story mainly about the last ten years, but obviously, I’m also going to be talking about the Spice Girls, because I had a beautiful time.
"But I’m kind of just exposing what I’ve been through over the last ten years…"
Mel admits to having had "quite the ups and downs" during her relationship with Stephen, 42.
But the chart-topping star – whose relationship ended amid accusations he’d been abusive towards her – likened the experience of writing the book to attending therapy sessions.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’, Mel – who also has daughters Phoenix, 19, with first husband Jimmy Gulzar, and Angel, 11, with actor Eddie Murphy – shared: "It doesn’t upset me. I’m facing a lot of … it’s like going through therapy.
"Luckily, my dear dear friend Louise is helping me to write it. It’s not like it’s just me on a rant. I want to be able to be relatable enough where women can … you know, feel like they’re empowered.
"See, if they are in a bad relationship or they are a bit traumatised or feel trapped, or it’s toxic or unhealthy, you can get out.
"I mean, it took me nearly ten years to get out – but I got out. And I’m happier."
Asked whether she’d be happy for her daughters to read the book, Mel replied: "I’ve got three daughters by three different men, three different, solid relationships. So I never want to talk bad about any of their fathers, because we made a beautiful babies together and all three babies were made with a lot of love.
"It’s more about my personal journey and what I put up with and what I allowed to happen."
