Meat Loaf hospitalised after collapsing on stage

Meat Loaf collapsed on stage during a concert on Thursday (16.06.16).
The 68-year-old singer was belting out his classic song, ‘I Will Do Anything For Love’, at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Canada, when he fell to the floor and appeared to lose consciousness. His bandmates rushed to help him before the singer was taken to hospital.
One fan Lindsay Sundmark, told the Edmonton Journal: "He was performing ‘I Would Do Anything For Love’ and all of a sudden, in the middle of it, he collapsed right on stage.
"We weren’t sure at first whether it was part of the act or it was something for real."
Britt Brewer revealed people were confused initially about what was going on, saying: "It looked at first like he was just being theatrical and lying down on the stage."
And another fan claimed Meat Loaf appeared to be struggling before his collapse.
Mikey McBryan explained: "It was him forgetting words, he wasn’t on cue, but it was forgivable. We’re all loving it and going crazy, and then it just took a turn."
A number of concertgoers caught the incident on video and first responders and people from the audience can be seen rushing on stage to assist him.
Alberta Health Services told Global News that a person was taken from the venue to hospital in Edmonton after suffering "a fainting episode" but had no other updates on his condition.
Meat Loaf – whose real name is Michael Lee Aday – cancelled two other concerts in recent days, in Regina on Saturday (11.06.16) and in Calgary on Tuesday (14.06.16), citing ill-health.
And this is not the first time he has collapsed on stage. In 2011, he was able to continue his concert in Pittsburgh and finish the show after becoming unwell but in 2003, after collapsing at Wembley Arena in London, he was admitted to hospital.
Meat Loaf suffers from asthma and a medical condition which causes an irregular heartbeat.
