Maya Jama’s social media is a ‘documentary’

Maya Jama views her social media platforms as a "documentary of her life".
The BBC Radio 1 presenter – who is dating grime star Stormzy – sees her social media as little "behind the scenes" snippets of her life, even when it contains something embarrassing.
Speaking at VOXI x Phones launch on Wednesday night (24.10.18), she said: "I’ve had loads of social media faux pas – probably one of my most recent ones was recording somebody do something and then I farted in the background and I didn’t think it would get picked up and it did. People were messaging ‘oh my god I can hear you fart in the background’. I was like great – self sabotage. I treat my online platforms like a little documentary of my life with every single behind the scene aspect."
The star also admitted she has double-tapped and liked a picture on Instagram by accident but advises fans to never unlike because "they will see it".
Maya added: "I’ve done a ‘danger like’ a few times and I just leave it. They are going to see it. A lot of people have notifications on and if they see it and then it goes it could be worse."
The event – which was joined by a host of A-listers including Jax Jones, Mabel and ‘Love Island’s’ newlyweds Olivia and Alex Bowen – was to celebrate the launch of VOXI x Phones, a new, more flexible and affordable way to buy a smartphone with no upfront cost and 0% interest. Customers can get ‘Endless Social Media’ and a brand new phone from £17 a month and iPhone starting from £19.50 a month, via PayPal Credit.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old beauty as previously admitted she loves to give her followers an insight into her personal life and regularly posts photos on her Instagram make-up free and when she’s all dressed up to show she is just like everyone else.
She shared: "I try to make my Instagram reflect how I really am and I don’t always look glamorous and dolled-up. So, I thought, ‘Right, I’m going to put up a silly pic that’s not pristine or filtered.’ It’s also a self-protective thing. I feel like nobody can get any ugly pictures of me because I’ve posted worse."
