Maura Higgins is ‘battered and bruised’ from Dancing on Ice training

Maura Higgins is "battered and bruised" from her ‘Dancing on Ice’ rehearsals – but insists it will be "worth it".
The ‘Love Island’ 2019 star has been training for around a month now and has had a few scrapes but says it’s going "really well" so far, though she admitted she has a "way to go" yet.
She told new! magazine: "I’ve got bruises all over my legs. I’m battered and bruised but it’ll be worth it.
"I’ve definitely progressed and improved, but I’ve got a long way to go."
The 28-year-old reality star also revealed that she and fellow contestant Joe Swash have sparked up a friendship and have been supporting each other.
She said: "I’ve met them all – it’s a good team.
"Me and Joe Swash call each other outside of training. I’ve got some really good friendships from it."
Maura is looking forward to meeting Joe’s ‘Loose Women’ panellist partner Stacey Solomon and their little baby boy Rex soon.
Asked if she has met them yet, she replied: "Not yet, but I’m planning on it when I get the time. He wants me to meet Stacey and the baby."
Maura previously admitted it was the dreaded headbanger which she is most nervous about performing on the ice.
She said: "It’s massive. [The headbanger] is what frightens me – but I think I’m more excited than scared.
"Like, I’m brave and competitive, so I think that’ll drive me… I’ve skated twice in my life just for fun, so I have no experience at all. It’s very scary!"
And she said it would take a lot for her to adjust to the fitness levels needed for the competition.
She added: "I don’t go to the gym, so I think I’m gonna struggle! I’m gonna be training everyday, so my body is not gonna be ready for it."
Other celebrities confirmed for ‘Dancing On Ice’ 2020 so far include newsreader Lucrezia Millarini, retired footballer Kevin Kilbane, ‘Coronation Street’ actress Lisa George and game show host Michael Barrymore among others.
