Maura Higgins doesn’t need to ‘prove’ her romance

Maura Higgins doesn’t feel the "need to prove" her relationship with Curtis Pritchard.
The 27-year-old beauty and the professional dancer met during their time on ‘Love Island’ this year, but when Curtis admitted he still hasn’t officially asked Maura to be his girlfriend, fans began to speculate that their romance wasn’t going to last.
Now, Maura has slammed critics of her relationship, and says that just because they don’t post "everything" on social media, doesn’t mean they’re not "happy".
She said: "We just don’t put everything on social media – and I’m not going to just to prove to other people we’re happy. I don’t need to prove how happy we are.
"We know we’re happy. We spend so much time together. We make time for each other. It’s just so nice having nights together just chilling and watching a movie.
"In the villa you can’t do that or do anything like that. It’s all normal stuff.
"We’re just taking every day as it comes. I don’t like to plan ahead, but when stuff comes my way then I’ll decide if it’s for me or not."
Since leaving the villa, Maura has been battling with stress, and recently had to cancel commitments after becoming "overwhelmed".
The star took a few days rest and is now fighting fit once again, but knows what to do if she ever suffers the same issues.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: "You know your own body. I needed to stand up and say I needed a break. Everyone has been so supportive. I received so many messages. I know in the future I’ve just got to take a step back. When I’m feeling like that I need to take time out from everything, including social media.
"There are so many amazing things, it’s all so overwhelming but exciting too. I’m just loving it."
