Matthew Gravelle wore disguise filming Broadchurch

Matthew Gravelle had to wear a disguise on the ‘Broadchurch’ set.

The 38-year-old actor plays Joe Miller – who was revealed as the killer of young Danny Latimer at the end of the drama’s first series – and admits he had to conceal his identity when filming to ensure the secret did not get out before the episode aired.

He admitted: "Actually, when we were filming, I did have to go around in a wig and glasses with my hood up, just incase."

Despite being sworn to secrecy when it came to talking about who the killer was before it was revealed to viewers, the hunk confessed he confided the twist in his young children – Tomi and Ela – because although they were too young to watch the ITV show, he was afraid other people might tell them about it.

He explained on ‘Lorraine’: "The [children] get it they just know that [acting is] what we [me and my wife, Mali Harries] do and they know it’s pretend so they’re not affected by it and I kind of briefed our kids before the first one came out, just before the revelation and said, ‘Look there’s this programme, it’s been quite successful, people might come up and say, ‘You’re a killer’. ‘I’m not a killer, it’s pretend.’ "
