Matthew Gravelle has joked his wife is wary of leaving their children alone with him after he was unveiled as a killer in ‘Broadchurch’.
The 38-year-old actor’s character was revealed as the killer of 12-year-old Danny Latimer, whose body was found at the bottom of a cliff, at the end of the first series of the ITV drama and he’s now joked his wife Mali Harries has been slightly worried about letting him look after their children Tomi and Ela on his own.
He said: "My wife still finds me attractive so that’s something. My ego is unchanged. I’m still at home … She doesn’t like to leave me at home with the kids by a cliff."
In a shock twist Matthew’s character Joe Miller pleaded not guilty to the murder in the first episode of the highly anticipated second series, leaving fans questioning whether he really is responsible.
And while it remains a huge secret, Matthew admits he’s confided in his wife, saying: "It’s a pretty shoddy marriage if you can’t confide in your own wife.
"She knows whether or not I did it but she doesn’t know the details from episode to episode.
"I’m very lucky to have such a trustworthy wife."
The ‘Son of God’ actor admits it was difficult keeping his involvement in the second series a secret as people kept offering him their condolences for being written out of the show.
He added to The Sun newspaper: "It was definitely a challenge keeping the secret. I think most people didn’t expect I’d be in it anyway.
"They kept saying, ‘Bless you, you’re not in the second series are you?’ They’d say, ‘Oh, that’s a bit rough’."
