Matt Smith’s Prince Philip admiration

Matt Smith admires Prince Philip for doing "what he wants".
The 35-year-old actor plays the 96-year-old royal in Netflix series ‘The Crown’ – which stars Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth – and he thinks the Duke of Edinburgh is "too cool for school" after learning so much about his life.
Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he said: "I’d really like to meet Prince Philip. He’s an enigma. He’s too cool, he’s too cool for school.
"I’ve not been asked to meet him. That’s what I love about him – he’s done what he wants, when he wants, how he wants, with whom he wants. He hasn’t asked permission and his wife’s the queen."
The second series of the popular drama will air from Friday (08.12.17), and Philip is set to be portrayed as an adulterer in the new episodes.
The show’s creator Peter Morgan said: "What I have to do is write a story about people at the centre of British life who are human beings.
"If you’re hoping that tries to pick holes in the royal marriage, I wouldn’t dream of it. Their marriage is a triumph by any standards."
What’s more, ‘The Crown’ – which will also star Matthew Goode as Lord Snowdon, and Dexter’s Michael C. Hall as John F. Kennedy – is said to be poised to dedicate a future episode to Edward VIII and his dealings with the ruling power in Germany at the start of World War Two.
In particular, the episode will focus on his relationship with the Nazis after he abdicated the throne.
