Matt Smith: Doctor Who is ‘greatest thing’ of my life

Matt Smith believes playing the Time Lord in ‘Doctor Who’ was the "greatest thing" he’s ever done in life.
The 33-year-old actor portrayed the time-travelling humanoid alien for three years from 2010 until 2013 after taking over the reins from David Tennant and he has admitted he looks back on his time at the helm with fond memories.
Speaking to London’s Time Out magazine, he said: "I’m proud of it, it’s the greatest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It was a wonderful experience for me and my family. I still do all the conventions and stuff. I don’t think I’d be as famous for anything else because it’s got so much cultural relevance."
Despite being a world-renowned actor, Matt is still able to carry out "normal tasks" like hopping on the tube.
He explained: "If you start living abnormally, then it’s over. I get the tube to work every day, I get the tube home every day. You have to do normal sh*t, man!"
Meanwhile, although Matt followed in his footsteps when it came to joining the popular sci-fi series, he has admitted he’d never take on a role in ‘Hamlet’, like David did in 2009.
He said: "Well, it [the opportunity to play Hamlet] may have come my way a couple of times, but it’s never felt quite right."
