Matt Milburn’s Corrie return

Matt Milburn is returning to ‘Coronation Street’ as footballer Tommy Orpington.
The soap star will be back on the cobbles as part of Jack Webster’s (Kyran Bowes) ongoing storyline which has seen him suffering from sepsis and having to have his leg amputated.
As reported by Digital Spy, when the youngster returns from rehab in Liverpool to help him deal with his illness, he will be thrown a welcome back party with a familiar face joining the festivities.
Matt first took on the role of sportsman Tommy – who plays for fictional team Weatherfield County FC – when the character hired Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) as his wedding planner.
Two years later, it seems he’ll be making a return to treat Jack as he continues to go through a difficult time.
The actor is best known for his time as Joe Spencer on ‘Hollyoaks’ from 2003 to 2006.
News of his guest role comes after Michael Le Vell – who plays Jack’s on screen dad Kevin Webster – praised young star Kyran for his performances in such an emotionally draining storyline.
He added: "He’s been fantastic, obviously he’s only 11 years old and it’s a lot to take on board but he’s acted so professionally and dealt with it in a really mature fashion. Kyran met with a family who had been through this in real life and it really brought it home to him."
The 53-year-old soap star hopes the storyline can raise awareness of sepsis and help families who are struggling in similar circumstances.
Praising ‘Corrie’ and its ability to do that, he said: "If it does then that’s fantastic, soaps can be so great at making people aware of different issues that affect families, but without ramming it down your throat.
"It’s like with Aidan’s suicide, no one suspected he was that low but the signs were there for people to see. That’s what Coronation Street is so fantastic at doing."
