Massive Attack to be named Best Group at Silver Clef Awards

Massive Attack are to be honoured at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.
The trip-hop group – Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja and Grant ‘Daddy G’ Marshall – are to be presented with the Royal Albert Hall Best Group Award at the prestigious ceremony which is taking place London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on July 1.
Hozier, Craig David, Jeff Lynne, Jess Glynne and Patti Smith will also be receiving awards on the day as well as Lionel Richie who has been named as the recipient of this year’s Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Award.

Lucy Noble, Director of Events at The Royal Albert Hall, sponsors of the award, said of the band: "Throughout their career, Massive Attack have continually pushed the boundaries, exploring the incredible possibilities of music through pioneering experimentation, exceptional songwriting and a complete contempt for the restrictions of genre. They are as exciting, dynamic and original as ever. We still have fond memories of their magnificent headline show in 1998 – a highlight of the band’s famous ‘Mezzanine’ Tour – and are delighted to announce that they are the winners of this year’s Royal Albert Hall Best Group."
The Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards has been running for 41 years honours the achievements of musicians and also raises funds for the Nordoff Robbins charity which practices creative music therapy for children and people with psychological, physical or developmental disabilities.
Meanwhile, Massive Attack are to headline the Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park festival on July 1 and will be joined on stage by their long-time collaborator Tricky.
