Mary Portas hits out at The Apprentice

Mary Portas has hit out at ‘The Apprentice’, insisting the show is "not about good business".
The 58-year-old retail consultant and broadcaster has blasted the BBC business programme, claiming the contestants show "non-respect for each other" and constantly "put each other down".
Speaking at the Music Industry Trusts (MITs) Award ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel last night (05.11.18), Mary exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I don’t like ‘The Apprentice’ and everything I do is the antithesis of that.
"It’s not about good business. It’s about individualism and linear power and I think it’s about non-respect for each other.
"It’s about putting the other person down. It’s about winning, not about how you get there."
The ‘Mary Queen of Shops’ presenter also revealed the secret to her success, admitting she embraces working with people "of all ages and diversity".
She said: "I think I’ve worked very hard. I’ve made it a skill that I loved. I’ve wanted to get better at it and always learning and never thinking I know it all. I think it’s always being open.
"Mixing the type of people I work with. I’ve always got a wonderful mix of people of all ages and all diversity whose opinions count."
The entrepreneur appeared at the ceremony alongside guests such as Kylie Minogue and Nadine Shah to celebrate the success of her "best friend", Creative Artists Agency co-head Emma Banks, who last night became the 2018 recipient of the highly prestigious Music Industry Trusts Award.
The audience enjoyed performances by Florence Welch, Beth Ditto and Texas – all artists who have worked with the talent agent over the years.
