Martin Compston’s horror car smash

Martin Compston was lucky to escape after a truck crashed into his taxi this week.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actor was left "very shaken" after the horror crash when the HGV smashed into the side of the cab he was travelling in on Thursday (02.05.19).
Martin, 34, was on his way to a hotel in Manchester when the accident occurred and cab driver Derek Burton, 71, admitted he thought a bomb had gone off as the bang from the crash was so loud.
He told The Sun: "There was a thundering bang. I thought it was a bomb. Martin screamed . We didn’t know what happened. We hadn’t seen the truck.
"It smashed into where he was sitting. Martin’s door was bashed in. It was probably doing 10mph but was so big it destroyed the cab."
Martin got into another vehicle to complete his trip but gave Derek his number in case he needed him for anything.
Derek added: "He gave me his number in case I needed him for anything. Thoroughly decent bloke."
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Martin has signed up to star in a new crime drama.
The actor will be joined by Molly Windsor, Laura Fraser and Jennifer Spence in ‘Traces’, Alibi’s first UKTV original series, while Laurie Brett, Vincent Regan, Michael Nardone and John Gordan Sinclair will also have roles in the series.
‘Traces’ is set in Dundee in the Scottish Institute of Forensic Science and Anatomy (SIFA) and follows lab assistant Emma Hedges (Windsor), Prof. Sarah Gordon (Fraser) and Prof. Kathy Torrance (Spence) who join together to attempt to uncover the truth behind an unsolved murder case.
Emma enrols in an MOOC – Massive Open Online Course – to learn the principles of forensic science and quickly realises a fictitious case study has a shocking link to her past, prompting her to start her own investigation. As she unravels more and more secrets, she struggles to figure out who she can trust but the two professors help her in her attempts to bring down a killer.
Alongside Emma’s main story, other cases and different disciplines of forensic science will also be highlighted.
The thriller is based on an original idea from crime writer Val McDermid and has been written by ‘Scott & Bailey’ scribe Amelia Bullmore and produced by
RED Production Company, the team behind ‘Safe’, ‘Happy Valley’ and ‘Butterfly’.
‘Traces’ features an all-female production team and will be directed by Rebecca Gatward and Mary Nighy.
The six-part series will air on Alibi later this year.
