Maroon 5 to headline 2019 Super Bowl halftime show?

Maroon 5 will reportedly headline the Super Bowl LIII halftime show in 2019.
The ‘Sugar’ rockers – comprised of Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, James Valentine, Matt Flynn, PJ Morton, and Sam Farrar – are said to be the act topping the bill at next year’s Super Bowl, which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on February 3rd, 2019.
Two sources confirmed the news to Variety magazine, although the band have not yet commented on the news, and a representative for the NFL told the publication it’s "tradition to speculate" about acts.
The rep said: "It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with [longtime sponsor] Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show."
If the ‘She Will Be Loved’ stars do take to the iconic stage to perform in front of millions across the globe, they will follow in the footsteps of this year’s performer Justin Timberlake, as well as the likes of Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Beyoncé, who have all graced the stage in recent years.
The Super Bowl halftime show always promises to be a spectacle, and this year Justin Timberlake was even considering performing with a hologram of iconic musician Prince – who passed away in 2017 – before plans were scrapped at the last minute after he received backlash on social media.
A source said at the time: "He was 100 per cent ready to use the hologram but nixed it due to backlash from social media and Prince fans. That’s why he had that sheet up like in your mama’s backyard."
Prince’s close friend Sheila E. had tweeted before the show that Justin was not going to use a hologram ahead of the performance.
She wrote: "Family, I spoke w/Justin 2nite and he shared heartfelt words of respect for Prince & the Purple fans … There is no hologram. (sic)"
She also hinted she had advised Justin to drop his hologram plans.
She said: "I just said no. I just felt that it was too soon. The hologram was weird, and Prince did tell me [to] make sure nobody ever does a hologram [of him] … He thought it was very demonic and that’s his spiritual beliefs."
