Mark Lawrenson is reportedly in talks to star on the next series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 62-year-old football pundit – who played for Liverpool during his sports career – is being lined up to star on the popular BBC show later this year.
A TV insider told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "The team who book celebs for ‘Strictly’ are really keen to get Mark on board. He’s a great character and they know viewers would love to see him on the show this autumn.
"’Strictly’ is a big commitment. But it’s looking promising."
The show’s producer are set to offer Lawrenson a big-money deal to get him to commit to ‘Strictly’.
A source close to the pundit shared: "There is definitely a good chance of him signing up. He has certainly shown interest.
"He loves the show and knows it would be a lot of fun to be a contestant."
Since retiring from football, Lawrenson has worked as a pundit on ‘Match of the Day’.
But his profile is likely to skyrocket if he joins ‘Strictly’.
The insider added: "Sporting legends often find ‘Strictly’ brings them a new fanbase. It would be great for his TV career."
Meanwhile, Jay McGuiness recently claimed some celebs put on fake personas on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The singer – who won the BBC show back in 2015 – has admitted that there’s plenty of behind-the-scenes drama on the programme.
He shared: "Loads more happens on ‘Strictly’ than is reported, and nearly everything that is reported is not exactly what happened.
"I’m not going to give out personal secrets but people have dark days and nine times out of ten, the crew and everyone lets it happen and it goes under the radar."
