Mariah Carey ‘upset’ Michael Jackson collaboration hasn’t been released

Mariah Carey is “upset” that her unreleased collaboration with Michael Jackson hasn’t seen the light of day.

The pop diva – who covered The Jackson 5’s hit I’ll Be There in 1992 – recorded a track with the late King of Pop that she hopes his estate will clear one day, hailing it “one of his classics”.

Mariah, 56, wanted to put the song on her recently released album, Here For It All, and she has urged fans to petition for the song to be released.

She told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live this week: “They’re doing something really huge for him, Michael, and you know this is a song that would usurp the situation. I’m so upset that it’s not coming out on this album. Like, every time I would play it for somebody, they’d be like ‘Wow.’ It’s one of his classics. I sang along to it and did new background vocals…If someone just calls his management and tells them we want to hear this!”

The pair have featured together on song on Jackson’s 2001 charity single What More Can I Give.

Released to raise funds for the families of those impacted by the September 11 terrorist attacks, the supergroup that contributed vocals also included Reba McEntire, Anastacia, Nick Carter, 3LW, Beyoncé, NSYNC, Celine Dion, Boyz II Men members Shawn Stockman and Michael McCary, Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, and Usher.

Jackson died at the age of 50 in 2009, from acute propofol intoxication.

Elsewhere, Mariah said she would love to headline a future Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The All I Want For Christmas Is You hitmaker would also be keen to put on a festive show at Las Vegas’ Sphere, telling Cohen: “I think it could be amazing.”
