Mariah Carey admits she is a "pretty insecure" person.
The 45-year-old singer has refused to open up about her romance with her fiance James Packer because she is a "private person" and would rather keep the finer details of their love life under wraps as it could get misinterpreted and cause her family problems.
She said: "I’m a pretty insecure person. But I have to get over that because it’s the reality of my life.
"If I start talking about this relationship, people will interpret it in their own way, so I think it’s safer for everyone involved to just not talk about the very personal aspects. I am a private person."
Meanwhile, asked if their wedding is planned, the ‘Hero’ hitmaker – who was previously married twice, once to Tommy Mottola and then to Nick Cannon – with whom she has twins Moroccan and Monroe with – again insisted it was "secret" and that it is better that way because it won’t disrupt her children’s lives.
Asked about her wedding to the billionaire, she told The Sunday Times Style magazine: "It’s a secret. I’m not doing this for laughs. I enjoy it. When you grow up without a lot of things … I try not to take things for granted.
"I am very traditional. I have babies, it’s more appropriate. I don’t know if most people can relate to that, but that’s just how I feel."
