Mariah Carey loses shoe and cries on stage in New York

Mariah Carey lost a shoe and cried while performing on Monday (15.12.14).

The ‘We Belong Together’ hitmaker took to the stage at New York’s Beacon Theatre for the first of six holiday concerts in the city, but had a disastrous evening which also involved her microphone pack falling off halfway through a song resulting in her halting the performance.

The star – who split from her husband of six years, Nick Cannon, earlier this year – wore a figure-hugging, ruby red, bejewelled gown for the show at which she sang her classic festive hit ‘All I Want for Christmas’, but had an accident with her outfit at one point when she unexpectedly lost a shoe, causing her to clutch the heel in one hand and her microphone in the other.

Later in the All I Want for Christmas Is You: A Night of Joy and Festivity show, the 45-year-old mum – who has three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with Nick – broke down in tears during a rendition of her 1993 ballad, ‘Hero’.

However, the waterworks didn’t last for long, as she soon stopped the performance due to difficulties with her microphone pack, which had fallen off her outfit.

Mid-way through the iconic track, the singer said, "Really? Stop! I’m sorry! Cut! Cut!" before requesting for an assistant to re-affix the device, after her perspiration caused it to fall off.

Referring to the man fixing the pack, she said: "It’s not his fault, it’s the sweat!"
