Maria Bello can’t watch horror films

Maria Bello doesn’t like to watch horror films.
The 49-year-old actress – who plays the role of the mother Sophie in the supernatural horror film ‘Lights Out’ – has admitted she was scarred for life after watching ‘The Exorcist’, and she has admitted she hasn’t sat down to enjoy a scary movie since, although she will happily star in the fear-inducing blockbusters.
Speaking to Heyuguys.com about the genre, the blonde beauty said: "I have to say seeing ‘The Exorcist’ as a kid, when she turns her head around and vomits and the whole demon thing of her rising from the bed, was so terrifying I don’t think I’ve watched a horror movie since. I don’t watch horror movies. I’ll be in them but not watching them."
And it appears the writer is easily scared as she has revealed she was terrified after she bumped into her co-star Alicia Vela-Bailey, who is a gymnast and stunt woman and plays a malevolent spirit in the film, going into the toilets.
Speaking about a scary moment on set, she said: "Walking down the hallway to the bathroom and turning and her [Alicia] coming out and I was like ‘Oh my god, don’t scare me.’"
Meanwhile, Bello has revealed her "favourite" film she has starred in was the 2003 romantic drama ‘The Cooler’, which saw her play the waitress Natalie Belisario, because she had a lot of fun on set with her co-stars and it was a short but more spontaneous script.
She explained: "I suppose my favourite film that was a turning point in my career was ‘The cooler’. It was one of those little ones we shot in 21 days in Rio, we had such a laugh and just created and came up with stuff on the flight, and it turned out to be this really beautiful touching story."
