Marcel Somerville was hired as a "love guru" on ‘Celebs Go Dating’ – but was sacked a few weeks later after it emerged that he’d cheated on his girlfriend Gabby Allen.
The ‘Love Island’ star – who was heavily praised for the relationship advice he dished out to his co-stars in the villa last year – was asked to join the dating show as an advisor but was quickly dropped when his shocking infidelity came to light last month.
A source told The Sun Online: "The team at ‘Celebs Go Dating’ thought Marcel would be a perfect fit for the show and would be the ideal person to give the celebs some advice. He was great on ‘Love Island’ and everyone loved his Dr. Marcel moments.
"Marcel was in talks with producers but when it came out that he had cheated on Gabby, he was quickly dropped."
The 32-year-old rapper was dumped by the fitness instructor – who he met and fell in love with in the villa last summer – last month after she found out that he’d slept with another woman behind her back while they were on holiday together in January.
Marcel has since apologised for his behaviour and recently admitted that he’s found the split really tough because he still really loves the 25-year-old beauty.
He told BANG Showbiz: "This is the first time I’ve been out and talking to the press since it’s all come out. I’ve had the same conversation talking about the split. Talking about it hurts. I’m OK, I’m good. I’m surviving."
But the former Blazin’ Squad hunk isn’t interested in dating anyone at the moment.
He explained: "I’m not even close to thinking about going after anyone else at all.
"When you split up with someone you need to take some time for yourself before you even think about moving on."
