Marc Elliott to join Holby City

Marc Elliott is set to star in ‘Holby City’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor – who was known for playing gay Muslim Syed Masood in the long-running soap – will join the hospital drama as dishy new doctor Isaac Mayfield when he rocks up on the wards and catches the inquisitive eye of cheeky practitioner Dominic Copeland (David Ames) in June.
Marc said: "I’m pleased to be joining the team and looking forward to playing this complex, flawed character."
He added with a laugh: "My twin sister was born with the brains and is a qualified veterinary surgeon. I’m chuffed to finally be able to compete – if only in the pretend world."
The 36-year-old star – who has been forced to chop off his straggly locks for the new part – has been off the radar for four years after he quit ‘EastEnders’ in 2012 following three-and-a-half years portraying the good-looking restaurant worker.
During his time on the soap, Marc saw himself tangled up in some gripping storylines, including his alter-ego’s failed marriage with Amira (Preeya Kalidas), his love for another man, his same-sex wedding and his fraught relationship with his family.
The BBC One soap was slammed with complaints in 2010 when Syed shared a naughty smooch with Christian Clarke, portrayed by John Partridge, before the 9pm watershed.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Marc has appeared on ‘Holby City’ as he previously played Nick Michaels in 2009.
