Mackenzie Davis joins Blade Runner 2 cast

Mackenzie Davis has joined the cast of ‘Blade Runner 2’.
The 29-year-old actress will feature in an as-yet unknown role in the upcoming sequel, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and also stars Syvlia Hoeks,
Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas and Dave Bautista.
Mackenzie has previously starred in ‘The Martian’ and ‘Freaks of Nature’, and picked up the 2015 Best Actress award at the Tribeca Film Festival for her role in ‘Always Shine’.
She can currently be seen as computer programmer Cameron Howe in the TV series ‘Halt and Catch Fire’.
Original director Sir Ridley Scott is on board as an executive producer for the film, which is set several decades after the 1982 cult classic, which depicted a dystopian Los Angeles in which replicant androids are used for dangerous work in Earth’s colonies in outer space.
The 1982 movie saw Ford play Deckard, a burnt-out special police operative – known as a Blade Runner – who takes on one last assignment to track down a rogue replicant.
WWE wrestler-turned-actor Bautista recently described his casting in the movie as a "dream come true".
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star said: "Hey guys, Dave Bautista here, and as speculated I am proud and honoured to announce that I am joining the cast of new ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Blade Runner 2’, directed by the amazing Denis Villeneuve. I’m very excited about this project and very grateful that I was able to bring the news to you myself. Couldn’t be more proud. Another dream come true, anyway you heard it here first. ‘Blade Runner 2’. Peace."
Shooting on ‘Blade Runner 2’ will begin next month.
