Lucy Mecklenburgh has banned her sister from appearing on ‘The Only Way is Essex’.
The 23-year-old reality star admits she is "overprotective" of 19-year-old Lydia, but doesn’t want her exposed to life in the public eye.
Asked if Lucy has banned her from being on the show, Lydia said: "Yeah that’s true."
Lucy added: "The producers keep asking her. I can see why.
"Perhaps I’m being overprotective but I worry about her being in the public eye. I know what they might throw at her."
However, it seems her caution is unnecessary as Lydia doesn’t want to be on the show.
She said: "I can’t really see myself on ‘TOWIE’. I’m quite shy."
And Lydia admits it has been difficult seeing some of the disadvantages of being in the spotlight that her sister has been exposed to.
She told Now magazine: "It was strange at first [when Lucy joined the show] but I got used to it.
"It’s had it’s advantages, obviously, but it must have been hard having her life on display for people to watch and criticise. Seeing her cry wasn’t nice."
