Lucy Fallon sobbed through meeting with a victim of sexual abus

Lucy Fallon sobbed the entire way through her meeting with a girl who had been a victim of sexual abuse.
The 22-year-old actress, who portrays Bethany Platt in ‘Coronation Street’, met with a young adult who had been subjected to sexual exploitation as a child to help her give a more accurate and realistic performance in the longstanding soap, which saw her involved in a harrowing child grooming storyline led by Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper).
And the award winning star – who received the Best Actress gong at this year’s Inside Soap Awards – has admitted she couldn’t stop crying during the encounter.
Speaking to The Sunday People, Lucy said: "The NSPCC introduced me to ‘Lucie’ a victim of sexual exploitation and abuse, and I was crying the whole way through our chat.
"You know these things happen and they’re horrible.
"But when somebody’s sitting in front of you telling you they were abused when they were ten it’s heartbreaking.
"I didn’t want people who had been through something like that to sit at home thinking, ‘Well that’s not what would happen.’"
Although Lucy’s alter-ego has escaped the clutches of Nathan and his friends, as they have been jailed for their sickening actions, she has revealed her character is still on the "really long road to recovery" after the horrific ordeal, which sees her return to Weatherfield to work as a stripper following a trip to Milan.
Speaking about her upcoming storyline, Lucy said: "It’s the way she is dealing with it. It’s going to be a really long road to recovery."
Despite the deep and twisted plotline Lucy has acted out over the last few months, she has no plans to leave the cobbled streets behind.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I’m hoping to stay on there for a little bit longer. I’m not ready to leave any time soon and hopefully they don’t kill me off or anything so I can stay on there for longer. I love being on there."
