Love Island bosses ‘fear baboons could invade the villa’

‘Love Island’ bosses fear aggressive baboons could invade the show’s villa.
The first-ever winter edition of the ITV2 show will kick off in South Africa on Sunday (12.01.20), and a number of the pesky primates have been spotted causing chaos in Cape Town, leading to concerns they may infiltrate the bikini and swim shorts-clad stars’ home while they are looking for love.
But the show’s bosses have a round-the-clock team on hand to ensure the baboons will not gain entry to the villa, which is based in Constantia, around seven miles south of Cape Town.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Obviously, the safety of the contestants is a top priority.
"Nobody wants to risk baboons getting into the villa."
In Cape Town, some of the baboons have been stealing food from restaurants, and one has even been nicknamed "Spag Bol Baboon" because he is a big fan of the meaty pasta dish.
The new winter edition of the show will be hosted by Laura Whitmore, after former ‘Love Island’ presenter Caroline Flack stood down when she was charged with assault.
And Laura – whose boyfriend Iain Stirling narrates the dating show – recently admitted she hasn’t stepped foot in the South African city before, and is looking forward to heading into the villa.
She said: "I’ve never been to Cape Town before. I’ve seen some pictures and the villa looks huge!
"It looks incredible. I’ve never been to a Love Island villa before either so I’m very excited to get in the door and see what’s going on."
