‘Love Island’ is being accused of fixing after it emerged contestants Hannah and Jon met two years ago.
Hannah Elizabeth and Jonathan Clark fell for each other as soon as the revamped ITV2 show kicked off last weekend but they’re now being accused of cheating in an attempt to win the prize money of £50,000, despite Jon admitting that he’d met the Playboy model in Essex night club Sugar Hut in the first episode.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Hannah and Jonathan have known each other for quite some time and have a lot of links to each other in Essex and Marbella."
However, although the pair are said to have bumped into each other on a number of nights out in the past, their agent Dave Read insists they had no idea they’d be coming face on ‘Love Island’, where the last couple standing wins the prize money.
Dave said: "I can assure you neither of the contestants knew the other was going in."
ITV have also jumped to the defence of the new show to rubbish claims of fixing.
A spokesman said: "The opening episode of ‘Love Island’ featured a scene in which Jonathan acknowledged in the Beach Hut that he had met Hannah before the show.
"Both of them live and socialise in Essex and Hannah was a Sugar Hut Honey.
"As far as we are aware, neither knew of the other’s involvement in ‘Love island’ until they met in the villa."
Meanwhile, two new beauties are set to spice things up in tonight’s episode as when two of the boys are voted off, operations manager Naomi Ball and glamour model Daisy Muller are set to join the singletons in the Spanish villa.
‘Love Island’ continues tonight (11.06.15) at 9pm on ITV2.
