Louis Tomlinson is set to follow Simon Cowell into the entertainment business.
The 23-year-old singer, who stars in One Direction alongside bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, has set up a new company called 78 Productions Limited and has started following unsigned bands on Twitter, prompting speculation he is on the lookout for new talent.
A music industry source told The Sun newspaper: "Louis spent a lot of time backstage at The X Factor last year, partly so he could spend time with Simon and get to know how the industry works."
Louis and bandmate Liam, 21, spotted the potential of fellow boyband 5 Seconds of Summer and invited them to support 1D on tour.
As a result, all of 1D now own a stake in 5SOS, who were recently nominated for a Brit award.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, One Direction confirmed they have started recording their next album.
The future of the five-piece band has been the source of much speculation in recent months, but they have now headed into the studio to begin work on their fifth record.
A source revealed: "There has been a bit of a question about the timing of the fifth album but there was never any doubt it would be released, despite the ridiculous speculation."
