Louis Tomlinson announces new solo album How Did I Get Here?

Louis Tomlinson has announced his third solo album, How Did I Get Here?.

The former One Direction star will release his follow-up to 2022’s Faith in the Future on January 23, 2026.

Louis, who has shared the first taste of the LP in the form of lead single Lemonade, admits he finally feels like he’s becoming the artist he always wanted to be.

He explained in a statement: “I sum up it as ‘The record I always deserved to make.’ My bread and butter is my honesty. I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve, and I hope it comes through in the music. I’m still learning and getting better as a singer and a songwriter. I find it impossible to be complacent; it’s not in my vocabulary. For the first time now, I’m allowing myself to be the artist I’d always hoped I’d be.”

Louis recently teased that he has a “good feeling” about his third solo album.

He posted to X last month: “Just sat listening to the new record and I’ve got a really really good feeling this time round! Can’t wait for you all to hear it!!”

In April, Louis described the songs as “sunny” with a dash of “chaos” when asked by a fan on X what to expect.

He previously insisted he wanted to take his time with his third record.

Speaking at the Rolling Stone Awards UK in 2023, Louis was asked if he’d penned any new material for the record, to which he replied:  “It’s funny, I wrote maybe four or five tunes in one of the breaks of the tour legs … I don’t know when the next record is gonna come, but the thing with me is: when I start writing, I’m just desperate to release stuff as soon as possible, so I wanna take a bit of time with this record, so when that might be, who knows.”

Louis released his Britpop and indie-inspired debut solo album, Walls, in 2020.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old singer will next bring his The Away From Home Festival” to the Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, New York on October 3 and 4.

Louis will co-headline with Lauv.

Steve Aoki, Plain White T’s, Daya, Pale Waves, Circa Waves and DJ Zach Sang are also set to grace the stage.
