Louis Theroux returning with new series

Louis Theroux has a new BBC series airing in November.
The 48-year-old documentary filmmaker has completed the three-part show which will see him in America investigating the cultural differences between the US and his native UK.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at The National Lottery Awards, he said: "I’ve got a series coming out, it’s starting on November 4. I can’t say much about it. But it’s a three-parter and it will be on Sundays at 9pm. It’s about America and how things are done differently there then they are here."
Louis achieved success and received critical acclaim for his shows ‘Weird Weekends’ and ‘When Louis Met…’ and that continued with his feature-length BBC Two specials.
On ‘Weird Weekends’ – which ran from 1998-2000 – Louis met with people with unusual careers or lifestyles, including porn stars, swingers and wrestlers, whilst he focused on celebrities on ‘When Louis Met…’ and included amongst his many profiles were episodes on now disgraced stars Jimmy Savile and Max Clifford.
Although Louis’ recent specials have mostly been focused on institutions, he is still interested in famous people, although his enthusiasm for meeting American President Donald Trump has somewhat waned because of the amount of focus already on the former ‘Apprentice’ host.
He said: "I always thought Trump would be really interesting, but then I read a biography on him and he wasn’t as interesting as I thought. It was all about his real estate deals, obviously it’s a big story but Michael Moore has got a film coming out on Trump and there’s other stuff coming out, so I’m really curious to see what’s being made. Watch this space."
When asked if he’d be interested in making a doc on disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, he added: "I follow the Weinstein allegations avidly and I think there is something really interesting with that, but I haven’t figured out how you would get into it."
The National Lottery Awards airs on BBC One on Wednesday (26.09.18) at 10:45pm.
