Louis Smith eyes up acting career with Game of Thrones style role

Louis Smith would love a ‘Game of Thrones’ style role as he eyes up an acting career.
The former Olympic gymnast has admitted after starring in West End show ‘Rip It Up’ – and winning ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2012 – he has a greater appreciation for performing and he’s planning to take lessons to help with a possible change of direction.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "Yeah, I could definitely see myself as an Unsullied, maybe the next Greyworm – massive ‘Game of Thrones’ fan!
"I think I have a big respect for actors, the more I kind of dive into this theatrical world – I mean, I’m only on the tip of the iceberg with this dancing show. But I have a lot of respect for it.
"I think sitting on the couch watching these programmes, I think a lot of us think ‘Oh yeah, I could do that’ or ‘I could give that a go’. That becomes a lot more daunting the more I know about the industry and how hard it actually is, so I’m looking forward to getting a few acting lessons under my belt and just seeing if it’s something I can explore if my talents lie elsewhere!"
Louis, 29, said he’s taking it "one step at a time", but explained he is always up for a challenge.
However, while he’d love to try out reality shows like ‘Dancing On Ice’, he admitted the idea of going into the jungle for a stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ could be a step too far.
He added: "I don’t think I’d be any good in the jungle, to be honest! No, I’m very picky about what I eat, I tend to want it a lot, and I hate bugs and those insects, poisonous insects and things like that.
"I think I’d be the one that they’d keep picking to eat crocodile testicles and things. I just don’t think I could do it. I mean, I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve had to put mind over matter in terms of things that I eat, but I think I’d probably struggle.
"I’d do most shows that challenge me in terms of learning something new, something physical. I like a challenge, so anything along those lines like Dancing On Ice, or SAS challenge type thing."
Louis was talking after taking part in a new campaign from Huawei and the RSPCA, which is promoting the use of the Huawei P30 Pro phone to increase photo quality and help more animals get adopted.
The dog loving star – who filmed mini documentary ‘The Unadoptables’ for the campaign – said: "We met this [Staffordshire Bull Terrier] Tanya. Staffies usually get a bad rep with all the negative articles you see about them.
"To meet Tanya and to see her lovely personality, to be able to take some amazing shots and know that she’s now going to a great home. It’s things like that that make all the difference. Just a simple act of kindness goes a long way."
