Lord Michael Cashman to return to EastEnders

Lord Michael Cashman is set to return to ‘EastEnders’.
The 65-year-old politician first appeared in the long-running show 30 years ago as Colin Russell and is now planning to go back to his old stomping ground for a short guest stint.
He said: "It was a real joy, indeed a privilege, to return to my old home of Albert Square."
It’s not yet known what will bring Colin back to Walford but it’s believed his visit will raise a big question for Dot Branning (June Brown) when he rocks up next month.
Michael – who represents the Labour party in parliament – may have only been on the show for three years back in 1986 but he quickly made history when his alter ego became the first character to share a gay kiss in a British soap opera.
He explained: "To be amongst so many friends again, and to be back in the place where 30 years ago I started an amazing journey, an amazing journey which incredibly helped to change the country, and certainly its attitude to lesbian, gay and bisexual people. Arguably without ‘EastEnders’ I would never have gone into politics … and I would never have ended up where I am now.
"As Shakespeare would have said by returning to where it all started ‘the wheel has turned full circle’.
"And the exquisite joy of having my scenes with the incredible June Brown was a bonus beyond anything else."
