Lisa Maxwell quits Loose Women

Lisa Maxwell has quit ‘Loose Women’.

The 50-year-old presenter, who has featured as a regular on the lunchtime show since 2008, is contracted until July, but she admits she won’t be making an appearance on the programme tomorrow (20.03.14) because she hates the new format.

She told The Sun newspaper: "We are the hired talent and do what we are told. But the one thing in all our powers is if we stay or go, and I’ve decided to go.

"’Loose Women’ is not the same show and it’s not as much fun as it was. It used to be about a group of women who all know each other really well and have lots of chemistry.

"It has become a lot more serious and less personal. I miss the laughs and I miss the show coming from the heart.

"Now it’s just about giving political opinions. But I can’t do that and I think people watching can tell if you’re faking it."

The former ‘The Bill’ star wanted to leave the show in September but she claims she was sweet-talked into staying on by producers.

However, she’s now keen to focus on her acting career.

She explained: "I’ve had a brilliant six years on ‘Loose Women’ but now I’m looking forward to going back to acting."

Lisa is the fourth long-running panellist to leave the programme in just six months after Carol McGiffin left in August, Denise Welch quit in October and Jane McDonald departed in January.
