‘Coronation Street’ star Lisa George has burst into tears on set during some of the scenes for Sinead Tinker’s cervical cancer storyline.
The star – who plays Beth Sutherland – couldn’t help but get emotional after shooting a recent scene for the plot, in which her niece Sinead (Katie McGlynn) has been given just months to live.
Lisa said: "It’s the hardest storyline I’ve ever done. It’s quite scary because you have to go through the motions, like you’ve probably not done before.
"In one of the scenes the other week I actually burst into tears because it was just so real."
And Lisa has praised Katie and Rob Mallard, who plays Sinead’s husband Daniel Osbourne, for putting in some "outstanding" performances during the hard-hitting plot.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she added: "Katie and Rob have smashed it, they’ve just been so incredible.
"They’re amazing, they’ve just been outstanding.
"I’ve been really lucky to work with both of them. It’s so sad."
Katie recently admitted she has been left "heart-broken" for her cobbles character Sinead after she was told a few weeks ago she has just four months to live.
She wrote on Twitter: "My heart is breaking for Daniel & Sinead @itvcorrie
…thank you so much for every single message about tonight’s episodes! I’m so proud that we’re shining a light on cervical cancer! Myself, @Rob_Mallard
and the cast/crew have poured our everything into this storyline #Corrie (sic)"
Earlier this month, Katie confirmed she is to depart ‘Corrie’ after nearly seven years on the soap.
She wrote: "After nearly 7 wonderful years playing Sinead Tinker, my time on the cobbles is coming to an end. I feel so privileged & honoured to have been a part of @itvcorrie
. I’ve honestly enjoyed every single second working alongside a BRILLIANT cast & crew who go above and beyond… (sic)"
