Lionel Richie dedicated a song to Britain’s Prince William at a charity event last night.
The 65-year-old star was performing at a dinner hosted by the charity Jewish Care at Alexandra Palace in north London last night (11.06.15) when he dedicated his hit song ‘Hello’ to the Duke of Cambridge and revealed his late mother, Princess Diana had once told him it was her favourite.
He said: "Many years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Princess Diana and tonight we have Prince William here.
"I must tell you it is a pleasure to be with all of you but especially this gentleman, because his mother came to me … And she said, ‘My favourite song is ‘Hello”.
"So I thought tonight the dedication is to you, my friend."
The event also saw Prince William – whose mother Diana died in a tragic car crash in Paris in 1997 – pay tribute to the victims and survivors of the Holocaust.
He met with staff, volunteers and supporters who work with Jewish Care before taking to the stage to deliver a speech.
The charity looks after more than 7,000 people every week by caring for those with physical and sensory disabilities as well as those who have experienced a stroke or have Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
