Line of Duty heartthrob Adrian Dunbar ‘may’ have gained weight in lockdown

Adrian Dunbar has become "obsessive" about food in lockdown.

The 61-year-old actor – who plays Superintendent Ted Hastings in ‘Line of Duty’ – has admitted he’s been over-indulging on food amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper’s Sebastian Shakespeare column, he said: "I’ve become quite obsessive about gardening; cooking and food, too.

"’What will we eat tonight?’ becomes the most important question of the day.

"When we do start filming again, I may well have put on weight…"

Adrian has emerged as a sex symbol during his time on ‘Line of Duty’, and the actor’s wife, Anna Nygh, thinks his alter-ego’s appeal lies in how easily he can be dominated.

He said: "She thinks it’s a bit of a laugh. You’ve got to be flattered, it’s great.

"I think women have responded so much to Ted because they all realise they could have him round their little finger within 20 minutes."

Adrian and his co-stars had already started filming the sixth series of the show before the pandemic.

And he recently admitted the programme could return by the end of 2020.

Asked when the next series will appear on TV screens, he said: "Well, we don’t know, probably the end of the year … maybe January or February, something like that.

"At the moment we know what’s happening up to the end of episode four. We don’t know what’s happening in five or six.

"Some people possibly do, but that’s where we are at the moment. We definitely don’t know what happens in [episode] six."

The upcoming season of the show – which is set 18 months on from the fifth series – will centre on a new case for AC-12, with Kelly Macdonald joining the cast as Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson.
