Lily-Rose Depp ‘grateful’ to work with parents

Lily-Rose Depp was "grateful" to get the chance to work with her parents Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis on the movie ‘Yoga Hosers’.
The 16-year-old model – who is the eldest child of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor and his ex-partner – has a starring role in the Kevin Smith-directed comedy about a pair of teenagers who join forces with a Nazi hunter to battle ancient and dark forces.
Lily-Rose admits it was an interesting experience to get to see her father and mother work and make her proper acting debut alongside them.
She said: "I learned so much working on this movie. Kevin really helped me come out of my shell as an actress. Being able to feel free and comfortable in your character’s skin is so important. I’m lucky I had such great people surrounding me to help me do that.
"The most fun part of making the movie was being able to learn and experience everything for the first time with people I love and admire … But I am grateful for what (working with my parents) brings and it is honestly a small price to pay to get to do what I want to do – I am very happy about that."
Lily-Rose plays a yoga loving, high school sophomore called Colleen Collette who, along with her best friend Colleen McKenzie – played by Kevin’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith – is in a punk band and works at a late-night convenience store.
Johnny, 52, reprises his role from Smith’s 2014 gothic horror movie ‘Tusk’, as detective Guy Lapointe, and the rest of the cast includes the likes of Haley Joel Osment, Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Genesis Rodriguez, Adam Brody and Justin Long.
Lily-Rose – who has a younger brother Jack – insists she’s not that dissimilar to her character in real life, saying "I am a little into yoga. Not as much as my character is, but I like it."
The teen starlet also revealed her performance was influenced by the classic teen movies ‘Clueless’ and ‘Gremlins’.
She told V Magazine: "I’ve actually seen both of those movies countless times … consciously or not, I definitely drew inspiration from those films."
‘Yoga Hosers’ comes out in cinemas in July.
