Lily Cole thinks a female James Bond is overdue

Lily Cole thinks it’s about time there is a female James Bond.
The 28-year-old actress, model and entrepreneur would much rather play 007 than a Bond girl as she isn’t a fan of how "stereotypical" and uninteresting the character – who was most recently played by French actress Lea Seydoux in 2015’s ‘Spectre’ – is.
Asked if she’d like to play a Bond girl, Lily exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I would rather be Bond. I think the Bond girl character would be a fun one to cross off your bucket list. But they are not the most interesting characters historically, whereas, Bond could be a bit more fun.
"I also don’t like male and female stereotype.
"I think it is about time we had a female Bond put it that way."
Quizzed for which female star she thinks would make a great female 007, the blonde beauty said she would love to see Cate Blanchett take on the role of the MI5 secret agent.
She said: "There are so many strong female actresses. Cate Blanchett comes to mind again. I think she would be pretty good."
With the current Bond Daniel Craig – who has played the iconic role since 2005 – threatening to quit the franchise, several actors have been backed to take over including ‘Poldark’ star Aidan Turner and Idris Elba, however, Lily thinks it would be good to have someone completely unexpected like comedian Ricky Gervais portray 007.
She said: "I think it should be someone funny for a change like Ricky Gervais. A really unlikely Bond, that would be quite fun. I’d go and watch that film."
Lily was speaking after finding out her film ‘Orion’ has been selected for the Raindance Film Festival.
