Lily Allen: I almost tried heroin after my break-up

Lily Allen considered "trying heroin" when she split from Sam Cooper.
The 33-year-old musician announced she had filed for divorce from her ex-husband – with whom she has daughters Ethel, six, and five-year-old Marnie – in 2016 following a year of speculation, and she has now revealed that during that low point in her life, she almost fell into a dark hole of addiction.
She admitted: "I was so sick, I said to my therapist: ‘Maybe it is time to try heroin.’ I know heroin is really the end of the line. But I have toyed with the idea before."
The ‘Trigger Bang’ hitmaker managed to stop herself from trying the illegal drug, but instead ended up "out of control" by sleeping with various men in order to "fill the void" Sam had left.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, Lily added: "Instead, after I got divorced, I kept having sex with other guys to fill the void. I was totally out of control."
The ‘Hard Out Here’ singer officially finalised her divorce with Sam earlier this year, and confirmed the news during an appearance on UK television show ‘Loose Women’ last month.
She said at the time: "I can use the D-word … [I’ve been] divorced for three days now."
Lily and Sam have an unusual custody agreement for their daughters, taking them for alternative weeks at a time, but she finds the set up very convenient for her work.
She said: "Me and my ex-husband share custody, a week on and a week off, which is useful for me work, when he’s got them, I can do that."
While Lily and Sam aren’t together any more, she admitted they are still "really friendly".
Asked how they came to the custody agreement, she said: "It wasn’t really something we discussed, we’re both really friendly, our kids go to school equidistant between our houses, so it works."
