Life on Mars to return for festive special?

‘Life On Mars’ could return for a festive special.
The 70s cop show’s co-creater Ashley Pharaoh has teased he’d "never say never" to reviving the series, which ran from 2006 until 2007, one day and he’d love to do a one-off Christmas episode in the future as well.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the 56-year-old writer said: "We always thought we were going to do three series of ‘Life on Mars’ – and then it became two. I always wanted to do a Christmas special … so never say never, I suppose."
And it seems a revival may be closer than first thought as stars Phillip Glenister and John Simm – who portrayed DCI Gene Hunt and Sam Tyler respectively in the show – have also expressed their desire to return to the programme.
Meanwhile, John, 45, admitted in 2011 that he had turned down the opportunity to do a third series of the much-loved show but now regrets it.
He said at the time: "If anything, maybe I was a bit hasty with that. I should have done another ‘Life On Mars’. Maybe one more. I missed my family and I missed being away from home. The reasons were genuine. If they’d have moved it to London, I would have done it. And then, ironically enough, they did the spin-off in London…
"… I saw that and I thought, ‘Oh, for God’s sake, we could have worked something out.’ It’s a shame. It’s gone now."
