Liev Schreiber felt like ‘bump on a log’ when he met Naomi Watts

Liev Schreiber felt like a "bump on a log" when he first met Naomi Watts.
The ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ star has been dating the ‘King Kong’ actress ever since they met in May 2005 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala but admits he was "nervous, embarrassed and self-conscious" when he first laid eyes on her.
He told Esquire magazine: "I went down to this club that she told me to meet her at and of course she was there with Sean [Penn] and Benicio [del Toro] and I’m kind of standing around like a bump on a log, waiting for my turn.
"I think I was nervous, and I felt very embarrassed being there, and self-conscious, because all these movie stars were hovering, and I felt … awkward and out of my element. And I wasn’t going to make a good impression. So I said, ‘I’m sorry, but I gotta go home.’ She chased me outside and said, ‘Don’t you want my digits?’"
Meanwhile, Naomi, 47, previously revealed she relies on the 48-year-old actor – with whom she has Samuel, seven, and Alexander, eight – for career advice.
She shared: "We’re both interested in each other’s work. And we ask each other for advice, I trust his judgement and I like to think he trusts mine. I could be wrong.
"It’s about supporting the other. When both parents are in the creative arts, it’s not nine-to-five. Sometimes our schedules mean we spend a lot more time at home than most parents. And then there are times we have to travel for long periods. If one of us feels very passionately about a job, the other supports and takes over. That’s the nature of the profession. But we always make it work."
