Liam Gallagher’s son Gene Gallagher ‘couldn’t sleep’ before opening for his dad on tour

Gene Gallagher “couldn’t sleep” before opening for his dad Liam Gallagher on tour.

The Oasis star hit the road in 2024 for his solo Definitely Maybe tour of the UK and Ireland with opening acts Cast and The View, but he also invited his son’s band Villanelle to join him on the road back and Gene has now admitted it was a nerve-wracking experience for him.

During an appearance on Radio X, Gene, 24, explained: “Definitely Maybe, like, I didn’t even know what I was doing. I didn’t even know what a tour was, or how to do it! …

“I don’t think anyone ever really is [ready for a tour that big] … [I] couldn’t sleep the night before … It was so unknown to me. I put on a brave face.”

Oasis star Liam previously hit out at claims of nepotism after giving his son’s band a slot on his tour, insisting it’s only natural for him to want to help his boy out.

In a post on X, he wrote: “Is it f*** [nepotism] he’s my son it’s what you do. I’ve given many opportunities to many young bands over the years it’s what you do if you can now it’s VILLANELLES turn if you don’t like it F***OFF [sic].”

Gene is Liam’s son from his marriage to All Saints singer Nicole Appleton while the rocker is also dad to Lennon, 26, with his first wife Patsy Kensit and daughter Molly, 27, with Lisa Moorish as well as Gemma, 12, with Liza Ghorbani.

Liam previously revealed both of his sons were into music and he could see both of them making a success of careers in the industry,

Speaking on the Humans Of XS Manchester podcast, Liam said: “They’re both eyeing each other up … from across the room. Gene has got a little band and Lennon has got a little band, they’re sort of working it out.

“They’re both playing guitar, I’ve not heard them sing yet, so that’ll be a surprise when they open their mouths and let me have it.”

He added: “Lennon’s music is a bit more spaced out, like early Verve, pretty chilled. Whereas Gene is more like in your face, Arctic Monkeys style. Go for it I say.”
