Liam Gallagher fined for missing court

Liam Gallagher has been fined $5,000 for missing a child support hearing.

The ‘Wonderwall’ singer was due to appear in a Manhattan court yesterday (12.01.15) for his case with journalist Liza Ghorbani – the mother of his 22-month-old daughter Gemma – but was absent from the meeting because he was "anxious and depressed".

Justice Laura Drager reportedly shook her head in disbelief when the 42-year-old rocker’s lawyer, Raoul Felder, explained his client had been issued with a last-minute doctor’s note.

She then slammed the excuse as completely "insufficient", while Liza’s lawyer, Ira Garr, blasted it as "offensive".

The attorney told the courtroom he had a photo of Liam and girlfriend Debbie Gwyther walking arm-in-arm in London over the weekend and added: "I think it’s offensive. My client came up from Virginia."

Liam’s decision not to attend the hearing comes less than two months after he claimed he was too ill to fly to the US sit for a deposition with his former lover’s lawyer – but was spotted in a pub a day later.

According to Mr. Garr, the ‘Supersonic’ rocker – who disbanded his group Beady Eye last year amid speculation his most successful band, Oasis, are planning to reform – has been given three settlement offers so far but his representatives haven’t responded.

He added: "Gallagher has indicated that Oasis (sic) is disbanded and his earnings are down, which is why he is reported to be selling off his homes in London and on Central Park South."

It is believed Liam wants to finalise his divorce settlement with Nicole Appleton – the mother of his 13-year-old son Gene – before making an agreement with Liza.

And the US journalist is said to be particularly unhappy that the ‘Supersonic’ hitmaker – who also has daughter Molly, 16, and son Lennon, 15, from previous relationships – still hasn’t met their daughter.

The lawyer said: "The fact that he hasn’t even seen the child is a great source of disappointment to the mother."
