Liam Gallagher dusts off Oasis’ Rockin’ Chair for BBC Radio 2 In Concert

Liam Gallagher sung Oasis’ ‘Rockin’ Chair’ live for the first time in 22 years at BBC Radio 2 In Concert last night (02.11.17)
The 45-year-old rocker played to an intimate crowd at the BBC Radio Theatre and treated the lucky few to the fan favourite – the B-side to their 1995 number two single ‘Roll With It’ – which is occasionally played by his estranged brother Noel Gallagher live.
The Britpop group rarely played the song, the last time was at the Leisure Centre in Gloucester, South West England in October 1995, the same year it came out.
The ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker has slowly been introducing songs from the band’s back catalogue into his solo repertoire and played ‘Some Might Say’ for the fourth only time, whilst ‘Be Here Now’ and ‘Morning Glory’ have been included in virtually every setlist at his solo shows.
It’s anyone’s guess as to which Oasis classic he’s going to add next, but Liam previously teased that there is the slight chance he will play ‘Wonderwall’ B-Side ‘Round Are Way’, which was released in 1995 and featured in the 2003 movie ‘Camp’ as well as 1997 film ‘A Life Less Ordinary’, which starred Cameron Diaz and Ewan McGregor.
Speaking about the possibility of him including the track, he said: "Not sure. Some are hard to sing these days and I refuse to drop them a key ‘cos they end up grungy."
The evening saw the group’s former frontman rightfully indulge in songs from his number one debut solo LP ‘As You Were’ with brass and a double bass on the melancholy ‘Universal Gleam’.

Liam Gallagher’s BBC Radio 2 In Concert setlist was as follows:

‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’
‘Morning Glory’
‘Greedy Soul’
‘Wall of Glass’
‘Bold’
‘For What’s It For Worth’
‘Rockin’ Chair’
‘Some Might Say’
‘You Better Run’
‘I’ve All I Need’
‘Universal Gleam’
‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’
‘Be Here Now’
